No matter the size of the company, finding new talent is a major decision. Many factors have to be taken into consideration and, for some companies, adding a staffing firm into the mix isn’t an option. Entrepreneur magazine addressed the benefits of using a Staffing Firm in an article from their July issue. This led us at Gainor to step back and refresh our perspective on how we enhance and benefit our clients in their hiring process.

Netflix, Uber, Spotify and countless other companies have forced businesses to reconsider traditional practices. Perhaps the traditional means of talent acquisition should be further examined. Often, companies find they are successful in sourcing new team members via online job postings. Inherently, only active candidates, those who are unemployed or unhappy in their current positions are being evaluated. Staffing Firms can be an essential tool in this process. Through their referral networks, Firms have access to passive candidates, those who aren’t actively seeking new opportunities. Frequently these candidates tend to be the most talented and better potential employees.

In a city where the market is constantly changing, Staffing Firms have the luxury of maintaining an objective bird’s-eye view. Because recruiters are able to see what competitors are doing as well as the activity among active and passive candidates, they have up-to-the-minute knowledge of current market trends. Recruiters know what salaries are competitive in the current market preventing bidding wars, and lost time pursuing cold candidates allowing the on-boarding process to be focused on the best talent.

Using a Staffing Firm is nothing new, as they have been around for over 30 years. With shifts in our economy, perhaps it’s time for a shift in perspective regarding Staffing Firms and their role in talent acquisition.
