Our client, an Ad Age small independent Agency, is seeking a VP of Creative, Performance Marketing & Direct Response. This is an opportunity to lead and develop big ideas for large-scale digital marketing campaigns for DTC brands ranging from retail to mobile Fintech.

Who you are: You’re a creative thought leader, with relentless testing ability, who can hit the ground running Day 1. You’re able to collaborate cross-functionally to assess what creative works and why, basing your conclusions on your analysis of the data. You can partner closely with clients to understand their brands, consumers, and insights to create & implement a strategy that meets the brand's business goals & breaks through to consumers by a thoughtful understanding of the customer journey. You have a deep robust understanding of digital mediums and product features including Facebook Ads, Google Ads, Youtube Ads, Email, SMS, Landing Page, and others. As VP, you will build and lead brand creative across integrated marketing, direct response, and performance marketing channels.

Your KPI: client revenue and customer satisfaction.

Core description:

  • Lead and collaborate with designers and copywriters to develop creative content before live testing.
  • Relentlessly testing new variations on control creative to keep it performing at maximum levels.
  • Deep dive on our clients’ creative to identify the top priorities and establish a strategic road map to take care of the lowest hanging fruit first.
  • Analyze the data from all tests & write up detailed analyses that teases out the “what and why” findings to enable you & your team to learn and improve
  • Establish clear directives with copy, design, tech, QA and other key team members to ensure smooth cross-functional delivery of all creative tests
  • Create detailed personas and map the ideal journeys our client’s customers will go through, integrating strategy with creative architecture to deliver an optimal conversion result
  • Collaborate with team members to set the overall strategic vision for testing relying on both research and intuition to prioritize tests with highest likelihood of success
  • Deep dive into previous split test data to see what works and what doesn’t, identifying the patterns of success to capitalize one, and the mistakes to avoid
  • Prioritize split testing ideas to focus on those tests deemed to have the highest potential impact in the least time with the least effort
  • Routinely perform audits of key conversion points and setup automated systems to detect when something breaks
  • Understand and set client expectations and internal timelines around creative deliverables
  • Conceptualize, write, oversee design, and execute creative content for various advertising networks that include social, display, video, native, shopping and search channels
  • Create client-facing presentations actioning internal & client feedback
  • Remain constantly aware of new creative developments within the industry to better service the client and maintain current and new business
  • Participation in market research and consumer insights
  • Foster progressive thinking and push the boundaries
  • Stimulate professional development and inspiration within the team and direct reports
  • Be able to succeed in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Manage your creative team and work with other teams to plan, execute and report
  • Brainstorm and collaborate on concept development, copywriting, brand messaging and marketing materials, as well as presentations and client communication


  • 5+ years of experience as a creative thought leader in a high-volume split testing environment that’s been exposed to multi-million dollar paid digital media buys
  • Highly knowledgeable in product features with Facebook Ads and Google Ads Platforms
  • DTC experience is an absolute must
  • Experience with consumer psychology and have developed a strong intuition about what works
  • Experience using data analysis to inform creative development
  • Passionate about the net effect of the split tests
  • Ability to be data driven and use response data to detect patterns of success to replicate
  • Experience with analytics, whether using Google Analytics, another CRO-specific analytics tool, or spreadsheets
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and structure complex projects/plans with multiple stakeholders and deliverables
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all employee levels while understanding both the day to day and big picture
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing time effectively
